Defense Production Act Title III Expansion of Domestic Production Capability and Capacity
The Defense Production Act Title III program aims to rejuvenate the U.S. defense industrial base by building up manufacturing capacity in areas of need. To help support this objective, the Air Force Research Laboratory released a presolicitation for a potential $9 billion, multiple-award contract that focuses on the act’s three primary goals:
- Sustaining critical production
- Commercializing research and development investments
- Scaling emerging technologies
Trusted and Elastic Military Platforms and Electronic Warfare System Technologies
Known as TEMPEST, the Trusted and Elastic Military Platforms and Electronic Warfare System Technologies contract is valued at a potential $808 million and focuses on the cybersecurity of avionics systems. It includes eight technical areas of interest, some of which include:
- Technologies for cyber-hardened and cyber-resilient platforms
- Modeling and simulation
- Techniques, methods and tools for measuring sensor system performance
The chosen contractors will carry out development, experimentation, test, evaluation and assessment activities as well as prototyping, integration, ground and flight tests and demonstrations and transition work.
Air Superiority Broad Agency Announcement
The Air Superiority Broad Agency Announcement has an estimated value of $750 million and focuses on long-term national security needs. The contract winner will leverage scientific study and experimentation to progress exploratory and development initiatives based on 12 key research areas, three of which include:
- Innovative aircraft integration technologies
- Missile guidance and control technologies
- Advanced warhead technologies
