Raytheon Secures $507M NASA Contract for Landsat Next Instrument Production

An RTX (NYSE: RTX) subsidiary has received a $506.7 million contract to build three instruments and provide related services for NASA’s next-generation satellite constellation for land observation.

Raytheon will perform design, engineering analyses, fabrication, testing, delivery and support services for the Landsat Next instruments that will form the future Earth observation system, NASA said Wednesday.

The contract has an option for the development and delivery of one additional instrument and a cost-plus-award-fee base period and a cost-plus-fixed-fee option period.

Landsat Next, a joint project between NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey, will be a 26-band constellation that captures imagery of Earth’s land surface to monitor and assess water quality and aquatic health, climate and snow dynamics, crop production and soil conservation.

Raytheon will conduct contract work at its El Segundo, California location.
