Jonathan Greenert, a retired U.S. Navy admiral, will take on the role of chair of the board of directors at the U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems.
He will succeed Kelly Ayotte, a former senator who has held the position of board chair at BAE Systems Inc. since December 2021, the company said Friday.
Ayotte will step down as board chair to run for governor of New Hampshire.
Greenert, who has been a member of the subsidiary’s board since April 2016, brings to the role his knowledge and experience gained through his four-decade career as a senior military officer and government leader.
He will leverage his management, strategic planning and operational experience to drive growth initiatives and innovation at BAE Systems Inc.
His career in the Navy included time as chief of naval operations, vice chief of naval operations and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The retired admiral advised the president and the secretary of defense on naval operations and budget, U.S. and international maritime security and positioning of naval bases, aircraft and ships. He also led technology development efforts in unmanned underwater vehicles and advanced weaponry, among other areas.
