Chris DeRusha, most recently federal chief information security officer within the Office of Management and Budget and a previous Wash100 awardee, has joined Google Cloud as director of global public sector compliance.
“Building and protecting robust technology infrastructure is the incredible next chapter for global government and private sector organizations and I’m honored to work alongside my colleagues at Google Cloud to make that secure future a reality,” he said in a LinkedIn post published Tuesday.
Nextgov/FCW reported that DeRusha will directly report to Jeanette Manfra, global director of security and compliance at Google Cloud, and will help expand the company’s portfolio of products and service offerings across cloud computing, artificial intelligence and security for the public sector.
“So excited to have Chris on the team and helping us serve our public sector customers!” Manfra, former assistant secretary for cybersecurity and communications at the Department of Homeland Security, said Tuesday in a post on the professional networking platform.
DeRusha’s career in public service included time as deputy national cyber director, chief security officer for the state of Michigan and senior cyber adviser at the White House.
Before he became federal CISO in 2021, he was chief information security officer for the Biden presidential campaign.
