A unit within General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) mission systems business has received a potential five-year, $120.7 million contract from the U.S. Navy to provide engineering and software development support services for the military branch’s submarines.

The Department of Defense said Friday the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract awarded to Progeny Systems has a one-year base period and a base value of approximately $24.5 million.

Progeny Systems, which was acquired by GDMS in 2022, will also provide hardware and software integration and other technical support services.

Work will occur in Virginia, Rhode Island and California and is expected to conclude in June 2025 and could run through June 2029 if all options are exercised.

Naval Sea Systems Command is obligating $10.5 million using the service’s fiscal 2024 research, development, test and evaluation funds.

Manassas, Virginia-based Progeny Systems provides submarine modernization and lifecycle support services for the Navy. The company also offers software and hardware platforms for weapon launch and control systems, acoustics, cybersecurity, surveillance and multitiered architectures to DOD and other government customers.
