Army CIO Leonel Garciga Receives 2024 Wash100 Award at Potomac Officers Club Summit

During the Potomac Officers Club’s Army Summit in mid-June, the service’s Chief Information Officer Leonel Garciga collected his 2024 Wash100 Award from Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson.

Garrettson founded the honor in 2014 in order to properly celebrate the foremost change-makers who are shaping the government contracting field. Winners come from both the public and private sides of the GovCon equation, as both play an integral role in ensuring the industry’s success. EM’s discerning voting body chooses those they see as exceptionally visionary leaders innovating in the marketplace.

Leonel Garciga came into office as the chief information officer for the U.S. Army a year ago, in June 2023. Since then, he has taken charge of carrying out his predecessor Raj Iyer’s Digital Transformation Strategy and quickly made good on his reputation as a boundary-pushing accelerator.

“His technical expertise as the former top tech officer for Army intelligence, combined with his reputation for cutting through red tape make Leonel a well-equipped leader to oversee the Army’s $18 billion cyber and IT portfolio and an obvious pick for this year’s Wash100 list,” Garrettson commented.

In a fireside chat at the Army Summit, Garciga detailed his priorities for the next two years. Be sure to also learn about his career history and qualifications for the award.

Kudos to Garciga on this monumental win! It should be a harbinger of even greater things to come.
