The State Department has approved a potential $340.8 million foreign military sale of RTX-manufactured (NYSE: RTX) short-range air-to-air missile systems and related equipment to the Romanian government.
RTX will serve as the principal contractor for the proposed FMS deal, which includes 300 AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II tactical missiles and a number of tactical guidance units, captive air training missiles and CATM guidance units, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.
Romania also requested to buy missile containers, training equipment, technical documentation and publications, warranties and engineering, technical and logistics support services.
DSCA noted that Romania will use the defense equipment to equip its F-16 aircraft fleet with air-to-air missile systems and strengthen its defense capability.
Romania does not require the assignment of additional government and contractor representatives upon implementation of the FMS deal.
