Projections from the U.S. Space Force’s Commercial Satellite Communications Office indicate that service branches and government agencies could award approximately $1.7 billion in commercial satcom contracts over the next 12 months, SpaceNews reported Wednesday.
CSCO outlined 10 contract opportunities for fiscal year 2024-2025 in its forecast to industry and warned that the requirements are subject to change.
Senior Leader Airborne Satcom Services Contract Requirement
Of the 10 anticipated requirements, the largest potential deal is for the procurement of global satcom services for U.S. government aircraft used to transport senior government officials and military leaders.
The Senior Leader Airborne Command and Control Communications Systems Service contract requirement has a one-year base period and six one-year options and a ceiling value of $880 million to $890 million, according to a notice published May 10 on SAM.gov.
The planned procurement effort also covers terrestrial links to government points of presence, on-board network management and mission planning software suite, spectrum licensing and network operations center support.
A request for quotes could be released by September and the seven-year contract could be awarded by April 2025.
Marine Corps Enterprise Satcom Service Contract Requirement
The U.S. Marine Corps intends to procure satellite bandwidth in all commercially available frequency bands and worldwide internet protocol reachback service through the potential seven-year USMC Enterprise Commercial Satellite Services requirement.
The procurement effort has a one-year base term and six option years and could be worth between $495 million and $505 million.
An RFQ could be issued by July. CSCO expects the contract to be awarded by February 2025.
