Each year, the most promising, impactful and noteworthy executives in the federal government and government contracting industry are chosen to the renowned Wash100 list. These executives represent the best and brightest minds in the GovCon landscape, and they are each uniquely positioned to shape the public sector and the broader marketplace significantly in the coming year and beyond.
This year marks Musallam’s ninth consecutive Wash100 recognition, placing him in the top ranks of Wash100 winners in the eleven-year history of the award. Executive Mosaic takes great care to refresh the names on the Wash100 list each year, so those who earn multiple awards have truly performed above and beyond in their roles to retain their spot in the Wash100 ranks.
“Ramzi’s keen mission focus, trailblazing spirit and visionary leadership have positioned Veritas Capital as a powerful force and a multi-strategy investment firm linchpin in the vast GovCon ecosystem,” said Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the iconic Wash100 Award.
“‘Ramzi’, whose name alone has earned the recognizable notoriety of unique single word brand, is a highly motivated and driven executive identity whose commitment to leveraging technology in support of national security, healthcare and education missions is nearly unparalleled in the market. With his ninth consecutive win this year, Ramzi has propelled himself into the upper echelons of Wash100 history, as only a select few truly exceptional executives have demonstrated the consistency, excellence and influence it takes to achieve sustained recognition with this award,” continued Garrettson.
In an exclusive interview with Executive Mosaic, Musallam discussed his strategy for Veritas Capital’s investments, the firm’s mission-driven culture and his background in the GovCon sector.
“From a business standpoint, we’re focused on what we do and not necessarily focused on what others are doing, or how others are competing or thinking about us. I believe we are unique in what we do and how we approach it. We chart our own course, and that’s ultimately why we have created this unique perch in the markets that we’re so deeply engaged in,” he told Executive Mosaic.
Veritas recently recapitalized its investment in Cotiviti, a data analytics services provider to healthcare organizations, with KKR. Through the investment, Veritas Capital and KKR will have equal ownership stakes in Cotiviti and will help accelerate the company’s fund growth and technology innovation.
“Over the course of our investment, Veritas partnered with Cotiviti to drive a period of sustained transformative growth both organically and through strategic acquisitions, building a mission critical suite of solutions that have helped to reshape the economics of healthcare,” said Musallam of the investment. “Both KKR and Veritas believe the Company will play an increasingly vital role in improving the healthcare system through proprietary data, technology, and analytics.”
At the close of 2023, Veritas sold its portfolio company Guidehouse to Bain Capital for $5.3 billion.
“We are proud of our successful partnership with Guidehouse and the Company’s continued track record of growth, serving as a valuable partner to address the critical needs of its clients,” Musallam commented. “Over the past five years, we have worked closely with Scott and his team to strategically position the Company by scaling its footprint, expertise, and capabilities in an effort to bring differentiated solutions to its customers across key end markets in the commercial and public sectors.”
