Textron’s Bell Subsidiary Secures $455M Navy Contract to Deliver Attack Helicopters to Nigeria

Textron‘s (NYSE: TXT) Bell subsidiary has secured a $455 million contract from the U.S. Navy to produce and deliver 12 AH-1Z attack helicopters to the government of Nigeria.

The firm-fixed-price contract covers associated engineering, program management and logistics support services and non-recurring engineering to solve obsolescence issues, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

Eighty percent of contract work will occur in Fort Worth, Texas, and the rest in Amarillo, Texas, through July 2028.

Naval Air Systems Command will obligate $82.3 million in foreign military sales customer funds at the time of award.

In April 2022, the State Department approved the Nigerian government’s request to procure 12 AH-1Z helicopters and 28 T-700 401C engines from General Electric (NYSE: GE) under a potential $997 million FMS deal.
