GDMS Receives $335M Navy Contract for Submarine Tech Development, Modernization & Sustainment

The U.S. Navy awarded General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) mission systems business a potential three-year, $335 million contract to develop, modernize and maintain the Strategic Weapon System Fire Control Subsystem.

The services will support the U.S. and U.K. ballistic missile submarines as well as guided missile submarine fleets, the Department of Defense said Monday.

Aside from development and production, the company is expected to perform sustainment, repair, installation, training and technical engineering activities.

GDMS will conduct its work in Massachusetts, Washington, Georgia, Florida, Connecticut and Rhode Island. About 3 percent of the tasks will also be performed in the U.K.

The project is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2027.

The contract includes cost-only, cost-plus-incentive-fee and cost-plus-fixed-fee terms, with the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs serving as contracting activity.
