Nick Lapato, former director of network operations center at Inmarsat Government, has been named senior vice president of program management at the Reston, Virginia-based telecommunications services provider, according to a LinkedIn post published Wednesday.
He oversaw the company’s network operations center for more than a year after serving as a senior systems engineer from January 2021 to May 2022.
Lapato joined Inmarsat Government after a seven-year career as a program manager at Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC).
He previously spent 18 years at Hughes Space and Communications, now part of Boeing (NYSE: BA), as manager of the integration and test group.
Inmarsat Government holds a spot under a potential $900 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide satellite-based communications services and capabilities to the U.S. Space Force.
In mid-2023, Viasat (Nasdaq: VSAT) completed its acquisition of Inmarsat, a U.K.-based satellite communication services provider, in an effort to bring additional satcom offerings to the government and other sectors.
