Leonardo DRS (Nasdaq: DRS) has secured a $134 million order to deliver to the U.S. Army its next-generation thermal weapon sights designed to provide warfighters with infrared imagery during target acquisition and engagement operations.
The company said Monday the Family of Weapon Sights – Individual works to wirelessly transmit thermal imagery to helmet-mounted vision systems, such as the Integrated Visual Augmentation System and Enhanced Night Vision Goggle Binoculars.
“This cutting-edge technology ensures our soldiers will have the most advanced weapon sight systems on the battlefield today,” said Jerry Hathaway, senior vice president and general manager of Leonardo DRS’ electro-optical infrared systems business.
In April 2022, Leonardo DRS was awarded a five-year, $579 million contract to manufacture FWS-I systems for the Army.
