Air Force Posts RFI for Payload Processing Facility

The U.S. Air Force is seeking industry input for the establishment of a payload processing facility to enable flexible fueling and payload integration on launch vehicles within schedule.

According to a request for information notice posted on SAM.gov, there is a requirement for responsive payload processing, integration and fueling, and the new capability is expected to support and enhance launch applications.

“This new capability shall be able to integrate the payload onto a launch vehicle either at a traditional launch pad, or at a remote, austere location that is between 0 and 50 miles (threshold)/150 miles (goal) from the basing location,” the notice reads.

The Air Force may use the Hermes broad agency announcement for the effort, which would fall under Topic 4 (Rapid Launch and Austere Location) and/or Topic 5 (Vehicle). The maximum single award amount issued against the BAA is less than $100 million.

Responses to the RFI are due Dec. 8.
