Dre’ Abadie, public-sector senior solutions architect at VMware (NYSE: VMW), said government agencies that seek to strengthen the cybersecurity of their hybrid cloud or multicloud environments should partner with companies that provide cross-cloud visibility and analytical insights and advance automation of security tasks.
Abadie wrote in an article published on Carahsoft.com that as agencies transition to zero trust, they should look for providers “that are clear and transparent in terms of what they can offer” instead of partnering with vendors that claim to have one-size-fits-all platforms.
“They should also choose companies that have robust ecosystems of partners so that together they can provide the comprehensive security coverage agencies need,” he noted.
Abadie, who spent over 25 years at the Department of Defense, highlighted the need for agencies to empower employees to focus on the mission as they advance information technology modernization.
“Employees understand the agency’s vision and purpose better than anyone. Let them concentrate on achieving the mission, and let industry partners run the infrastructure and platforms,” he stated.
The VMware executive said IT leaders should perform due diligence on agreements involving services being offered across multiple clouds.
“That effort is absolutely critical for agencies to have a clear understanding of their dependencies with cloud service providers,” Abadie added.
