Neo4j’s Michael Moore: Graph Database Platform Could Help Agencies Improve Cybersecurity

Michael Moore, principal of partner solutions and technology at Neo4j, said government agencies looking to uncover insights into security vulnerabilities should consider adopting a graph database platform that could provide an “explicit treatment of the relationships between data points” and a “traversable, networked view of their data.”

In an article published on Carahsoft.com, Moore discussed how platforms like those of Neo4j could help agencies perform and complete queries in seconds.

He talked about how a graph database can back the development of a digital twin or digital representation of an agency’s network.

With a digital twin, he said information technology leaders can immediately detect the attack paths between a network administrator and an open port.

“In addition, a digital twin can help agencies determine how to limit the spread of a cyberattack by shutting down devices or other aspects of the network,” Moore stated.

The Neo4j executive also cited how graph database platforms integrated with cloud environments could help agencies improve security.
