NASA plans to release a solicitation for the third iteration of its Safety and Mission Assurance Services contracting vehicle and expects the maximum ordering value for SMAS III to reach $226 million.
According to a presolicitation notice posted on SAM.gov, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center will procure services for independent surveillance, audit, review and assessment of design, development, test and mission operations activities in addition to SMAS to support the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate.
The iteration is anticipated to be awarded as a cost plus fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to a sole contractor. The IDIQ will have a five-year ordering period and options to extend services.
Performance location will be at NASA GSFC/Wallops, contractor facilities and other sites based on individual task orders.
NASA looks to post the final request for proposal in January 2024 but a draft RFP will come earlier in October or November this year.
