John Hillen, former CEO of government technology services contractor EverWatch and a GovCon industry veteran, has joined the advisory board of investment firm Enlightenment Capital.
He will bring to the advisory board his decades of military, intelligence and national security experience and help explore new opportunities for the investment firm’s portfolio, Enlightenment Capital said Monday.
He was instrumental in the buildup and sale of EverWatch, an Enlightenment Capital portfolio company, to Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) in October 2022.
“The board appointment of John Hillen — among the most recognizable names and faces in GovCon and a significant contributor to the early success of Executive Mosaic — bodes very well for the continued success of Enlightenment Capital and showcases their commitment to the government contracting sector. Congratulations to John, and we look forward to his continued impact across the GovCon ecosystem,” said Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100 Award.
Hillen, a previous Wash100 awardee, spent two years as assistant secretary for political-military affairs at the State Department.
The former U.S. Army officer previously served as president and CEO of Sotera Defense Solutions and chairman of the Professional Services Council.
He currently sits on the boards of QinetiQ US, Atkins Nuclear Solutions and Software AG and is a James C. Wheat Visiting Professor in Leadership at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia.
Hillen co-authored the book “What Happens Now? Reinvent Yourself As A Leader Before Your Business Outruns You” and served as executive in residence and professor of practice at George Mason University’s School of Business.
