Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) has won a $574.5 million task order to help the U.S. Space Force update and sustain a global network of ground-based radar systems.
Space Systems Command received four bids for the cost-plus-incentive-fee contract via a competitive acquisition and is obligating $43.8 million in fiscal 2023 operations and maintenance funds on the award, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
SAIC will perform the sensor sustainment and modification work in Colorado and other undisclosed locations, with an estimated completion date of March 24, 2030.
Space Force used ground-based radar infrastructure to identify and detect missile threats, monitor the low-Earth orbit and track deep space objects.
Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) helped maintain the sensors for the past five years under an $866 million contract the U.S. Air Force announced in June 2018.
