Ricardo Defense Books $386M Army Contract Modification for Humvee Safety Tech Retrofit Kits

Ricardo Defense has received a $385.6 million contract modification from the U.S. Army to produce and deliver system retrofit kits for the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles.

The award is made on the initial $89.8 million contract with the Troy, Michigan-based defense contractor to procure anti-lock braking and electronic stability control system retrofit kits for the HMMWV or Humvee. The Army awarded the contract in March 2021.

The Department of Defense said Tuesday work on the latest award is expected to be completed by March 15, 2026, with locations and funds depending on each order.

According to the Army, the ABS/ESC program aims to allow for shorter stopping distances, lesser brake system component wear and boosted vehicle operational readiness. It covers more than 1,900 vehicles in the HMMWV fleet and will support active duty units and the National Guard.
