Michael Baker International has acquired emergency and disaster management consultancy Tidal Basin for an undisclosed sum as both companies seek more business opportunities to support crisis response efforts by the federal government.
Utica, New York-based Tidal Basin will operate as the acquirer’s sister company and both firms expect the new relationship to build up their program and technical management support for government agencies, businesses and communities, Michael Baker said Tuesday.
The two organizations have previously worked on wildfire planning efforts in California and infrastructure projects in New York and Colorado.
With the acquisition, Michael Baker aims to broaden its infrastructure, design-build and sustainable and resilience service offerings.
“Both firms bring added strength to the market with complementary resources and capabilities to take on larger resiliency projects while delivering the exceptional client service for which they are known,” said Thomas Campbell, chairman of Michael Baker International and founder and managing partner of DC Capital Partners.
The McLean Group and Davis Wright Tremaine were Tidal Basin’s financial and legal advisers on the sale, respectively, while Arnold & Porter and White & Case served as DC Capital’s transaction and debt counsels.
