Day and Zimmermann has acquired Empire Products Inc., which makes propellant and charge bags for the defense sector, in a deal aimed at expanding D&Z’s munition product manufacturing operations.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed and D&Z said Wednesday EPI has been a key partner for the company’s supply chain.
Yankton, South Dakota-headquartered EPI manufactures military contract sewing products such as 120mm tank ammunition bags, 105mm propellant charge bags and 155mm MACS charge bags.
The business has produced RAIDS, strap assemblies, survival and ammunition vests, field packs, flex rotating bands, removal straps and survival kits for U.S.-led Operation Desert Storm.
“They have been a trusted supply-chain partner to us for years, so we know the high-quality and values-based performance of this team,” Mike Yoh, president of D&Z’s munitions and government business, said of the acquired business.
EPI customers include Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), Spectra Technologies and American Ordnance.
