Denver-based York Space Systems has acquired Emergent Space Technologies in a transaction that expands the former’s software development and mission design services for the government sector.
Laurel, Maryland-based Emergent is a small business focused on developing software and guidance, navigation and control systems for military, civil and commercial space missions for over two decades, York said Wednesday.
Emergent has also provided systems engineering; orbital mechanics; positioning, navigation and timing; modeling and simulation; software architecture, design, development and test; and visualization support to NASA and agencies within DOD and IC.
“With the rapid commoditization of satellite hardware, the country’s competitive advantage in space is in the mission software, smart networks, and edge processing,” said Charles Beames, chairman of York Space Systems.
“Incorporating Emergent’s capabilities into York’s existing space mission solutions now allows us to immediately deliver a broader range of capabilities, further enhancing mission design and continuing to support the spiral development model,” added Beames.
