William Ballhaus, a member of Mercury Systems‘ (Nasdaq: MRCY) board of directors since June 2022, has been named interim president and CEO of the Andover, Massachusetts-based defense technology supplier.
His appointment was part of a corporate leadership refresh strategy and he will hold the position until a permanent president and CEO is named to succeed Mark Aslett, who stepped down after more than 15 years at the helm, Mercury Systems said Friday.
As part of the reorganization, Mercury Systems also named Gerard DeMuro, co-CEO of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft developer Eve Air Mobility, independent board director.
Mercury Systems plans to appoint a second independent director to expand its board to 10 directors.
In addition, the company has concluded a comprehensive search for a permanent chief financial officer who will replace Michelle McCarthy, who has served as interim CFO since January.
McCarthy will continue to serve as senior vice president and chief accounting officer following the appointment of the new CFO in the coming weeks.
