A Deltek market analysis team found that federal spending on cloud procurement contracts with the small business community increased from $307 million in fiscal year 2021 to $714 million in fiscal 2022.
Alex Rossino, advisory research analyst at Deltek, reported Wednesday that cloud investments at the U.S. Air Force and the Department of Homeland Security helped drove the upward trend for the period.
Data from the analysis showed USAF spent the most on small business cloud offerings at $340 million during the 2020-2022 period, followed by DHS with a total spending of $310 million.
Other defense agencies awarded contracts worth $158 combined to small businesses.
Small businesses not belonging to a socioeconomic sub-group received the largest sum of contract awards, according to the analysis.
