Anduril Expands Solid Rocket Motor Supply Base With Adranos Acquisition; Brian Schimpf Quoted

Anduril Industries has acquired Adranos in a transaction that makes the Costa Mesa, California-based defense technology company a solid rocket motor supplier to principal contractors providing missiles, hypersonics and other propulsion technologies for some of the major programs of the Department of Defense.

Established in 2015, Mississippi-based Adranos developed ALITEC, an aluminum-lithium alloy fuel that can generate up to a 40 percent range increase in solid rocket motors, and an advanced process designed to speed up manufacturing of solid rocket motors, Anduril said Sunday.

“There is a clear need for greater competition and expanded supply in solid rocket motors for the United States and our allies,” said Brian Schimpf, co-founder and CEO of Anduril.

“With this acquisition, Anduril will grow the defense industrial base, speed development and production of critical components with an advanced manufacturing approach, and enable next-generation performance of solid rocket motors with ALITEC, which is crucial for national security and overall health of the defense industry,” added Schimpf.

Anduril looks to modernize Adranos’ Mississippi-based production facility to boost annual output of ALITEC and standard solid rocket motors.
