Charles Anderson, a retired U.S. Army major general with more than four decades of combined military and industry experience, has been appointed vice president and general manager of VSE’s (Nasdaq: VSEC) government-focused subsidiary.
VSE announced Anderson’s appointment one week after the aftermarket services provider moved to sell its federal and defense unit to Bernhard Capital Partners in a cash deal worth up to $100 million.
He will lead the segment as it prepares to transition into a new ownership structure under the private equity management firm and pursues growth opportunities.
The unit being sold to Bernhard Capital offers technical, logistics and sustainment services to defense and civilian agencies.
“Chuck’s extensive experience in the defense and government services industry, coupled with his leadership skills and strategic vision, make him the ideal candidate to lead this segment of our business,” said John Cuomo, president and CEO of VSE.
Anderson previously served as president of the global mission services group at PAE and senior VP of programs at Vectrus.
He retired from the Army in 2011 after 32 years of service.
