He has supported design-build efforts at Austal USA for the construction of Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship and Expeditionary Fast Transport vessels over the course of his career, the company said Tuesday.
Young worked for 19 years at the company’s ship manufacturing business in Mobile, Alabama, where he helped establish operations and the production of two Hawaii Super Ferry vessels on the site.
He joined Austal as a structural engineering apprentice after finishing his education in Perth, Australia.
