Navy Vet Michael Brasseur Appointed Saab US VP, Chief Strategy Officer

Michael Brasseur, a 26-year U.S. Navy veteran and a maritime robotics specialist, has joined the U.S. subsidiary of Swedish defense contractor Saab as vice president and chief strategy officer.

The retired captain will be responsible for helping Saab Inc. address its strategic goals and customer requirements through collaboration with the government, commercial and academic sectors, the company said Monday.

Brasseur founded and served as the first commodore of the Navy’s Task Force 59, which aims to integrate unmanned and artificial intelligence technologies into the 5th Fleet mission.

He previously commanded the USS Fort Worth littoral combat ship and the USS Whirlwind Cyclone-class patrol ship, as well as held assignments on four other naval warships.
