Lockheed Receives $172M Navy Order Modification to Boost F-35 Block 4 Manufacturing Capacity

Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) aeronautics business will move to boost the production capacity for F-35 Block 4 jets after the Naval Air Systems Command awarded a $172.1 million order modification under a basic ordering agreement.

The company will use the money to obtain special test and tooling equipment and kits to support Next Gen Distributed Aperture System integration work, the Defense Department said Thursday.

Funds additionally support efforts to modify power and thermal management system for the fighter aircraft.

The Block 4 configuration is powered by Technical Refresh-3 hardware that will be part of production lots 15 to 15, according to Lockheed.

In December 2022, The Pentagon’s F-35 Joint Program Office finalized a $30 billion agreement with the company to provide U.S. and foreign customers with as many as 398 jets.
