Derrick Pledger, a senior vice president and chief information officer at Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), said government agencies seeking to drive digital modernization efforts to improve operations and address mission challenges should look for a vendor that is focused on building deep technical partnerships to develop new platforms and capabilities for agency clients.
Pledger wrote in an article published on Carahsoft‘s website that there are three key challenges that are driving digital transformation initiatives at agencies and these are the large volumes of data being generated across their information technology systems, increasing cyberthreats and hacking campaigns and the complexity of hybrid IT environments.
He discussed how Leidos works with several tech companies, such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), HashiCorp (Nasdaq: HCP), Rancher Federal and Intel (Nasdaq: INTC), to advance modernization across the Department of Defense and the U.S. Army through the Edge to Cloud digital ecosystem.
“This capability enables legacy platforms and new technologies to coexist and allows data sharing at scale to give the military decision-making advantages over our adversaries,” Pledger said of Edge to Cloud.
Pledger also cited the Reston, Virginia-based tech and engineering services contractor’s partnership with ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW) over low-code/no-code platforms and with Zscaler (Nasdaq: ZS) and Palo Alto Networks (Nasdaq: PANW) to help agencies transition to a zero trust environment.
“We then work with our partners to devise a plan to address any security gaps and create a roadmap to move the agency along on its zero trust journey, with the end goal of preparing the agency to defend against external cybersecurity risks and internal threat actors,” he added.
