The U.S. Navy has awarded seven companies positions on a potential five-year, $75 million firm-fixed-price contract to produce and deliver prototypes of high-energy laser weapon systems for the service branch.
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division in Virginia received seven offers for the multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract and obligated $3,500 in fiscal 2023 research and development funds at the time of award, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Work will occur in Indiana, California, Alabama, Washington and Colorado through March 2028.
The awardees are:
- Dynetics, a subsidiary of Leidos (NYSE: LDOS)
- General Atomics
- II-VI Aerospace & Defense
- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT)
- nLIGHT Nutronics
- NUBURU
- Rolls-Royce subsidiary LibertyWorks
