Monet’s 2023 recognition builds on his previous Wash100 wins, including the previous year’s that highlighted his efforts in leading Akima and its companies to secure contracts from government customers and certifications from standard-setting organizations.
As president and CEO of Akima, Monet oversees a portfolio of over 45 businesses and 8,000 professionals who are committed to delivering services and offering to federal customers.
In 2022, several Akima companies received contracts from the government to provide its organizations with a range of support services. One such award is for Akima Infrastructure Services to assist operations at two Department of Energy facilities: the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and its Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Work is under a potential four-year, $63 million contract.
Akima Logistics Services, on the other hand, booked a $109.7 million contract to provide logistics support for 58 U.S. Air Force Academy aircraft over a 10-year period. The subsidiary will perform services through April 6, 2032.
Sunik, another Akima subsidiary, added to the company’s tally of contract awards in 2022. It secured two deals under the Enhanced Army Global Logistics Enterprise program. The first is worth $85 million and requires Sunik to aid the Army Field Support Battalion at Fort Carson in Colorado, while the second is valued at $44 million and procures support for the 3rd Infantry Division and other Army combat divisions based at Fort Stewart in Georgia.
The Army also gave Akima-owned Compass Point a spot on a potential five-year, $201.8 million contract for assisting in its digital modernization program.
Aside from the mentioned portfolio companies, Akima’s RiverTech subsidiary also won government contracts. In June, it was tapped by Coast Guard to support the National Maritime Center‘s processing of about 100,000 commercial mariner credential applications yearly. The potential three-year award was made under Pool 1 of the General Services Administration’s One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services procurement vehicle.
Later in the year, the Defense Intelligence Agency tasked RiverTech to provide knowledge management support services to its operations directorate under a potential five-year contract.
Another notable win for Akima under Monet’s stewardship is a potential seven-year, $333 million contract from the Air Force to deliver operations and management services to Tinker AFB. Akima Range Readiness Operations, a joint venture of Akima and Amentum, will conduct services at critical military facilities.
Aside from GovCon work, the Akima brand also announced executive moves in the previous year. Jason Goodfriend was appointed general manager of RiverTech and Mike Alvarado was named chief growth officer of Akima.
Commenting on Alvarado, Monet said, “[The new CGO] is a forward-thinking and strategic leader, and his expertise will play a critical role in aligning our strategic plan and organizational vision to best support our customers’ missions.”
As Akima builds on its successes in 2022, the GovCon community anticipates the brand’s continued progress in the year ahead under the leadership of Monet.
