John Mayles, executive director of AM General‘s U.S. Defense Program Management Office since November 2021, has been elevated to vice president of the same office.
His promotion, announced Monday in a LinkedIn post, came days after AM General won the U.S. Army’s Joint Light Tactical Vehicle recompete contract worth potentially $8.66 billion over 10 years.
Mayles joined the South Bend, Indiana-based automotive manufacturer in 2016 as a program manager and became senior director of U.S. defense operations and program integration four years later.
The retired U.S. Marine Corps lieutenant colonel previously served as VP of business development and military programs at Armor Holdings.
He retired from the military in 2004 after 21 years of service.
Under the follow-on JLTV program, AM General will build up to 20,682 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles and 9,883 JLTV trailers for domestic and international defense customers.
