BAE Systems‘ ship repair business in Norfolk, Virginia, has won a potential $161.5 million contract from Naval Sea Systems Command to update, repair and maintain systems of an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer ship.
The company will perform fiscal 2023 depot modernization work on the USS Nitze (DDG 94) vessel for the Chief of Naval Operations, the Department of Defense said Friday.
DOD noted the firm-fixed-price contract action includes initial funds amounting to $145.2 million.
NAVSEA received two proposals for the project via a full and open competition on the SAM website.
The USS Nitze recently made a port visit in the U.S. Sixth Fleet area of operations as part of a scheduled deployment.
