Tom Hammoor, most recently head of Textron’s (NYSE: TXT) aviation defense segment, has been named president and CEO of Textron Systems.
He replaces Lisa Atherton, who will serve as chief operating officer of Textron’s Bell subsidiary, the parent company said Thursday.
Hamoor brings to the role nearly four decades of defense industry and military leadership experience.
He served as president and chief executive of Textron Aviation Defense between 2016 and 2022. He spent three decades at General Electric (NYSE: GE), where he held leadership positions in manufacturing, quality and customer service.
His military career included time as a scout/attack helicopter platoon leader with the U.S. Army’s 101st airborne division.
Atherton took the helm of Textron Systems in 2017. She started her career at Textron Defense Systems in 2007 and held leadership roles at Bell, including executive vice president of military business.
She served for eight years within the directorate of requirements of Air Combat Command.
