Chris Soong, former chief information officer at HII‘s (NYSE: HII) mission technologies business, has been elevated to the positions of executive vice president and CIO at the Newport News, Virginia-headquartered company.
His promotion is effective April 1 and he will succeed Bharat Amin, who is set to retire at the end of March after a nearly 10-year career with HII, the military shipbuilder said Tuesday.
In this companywide role, Soong will manage the company’s information technology and digital strategy with a focus on cybersecurity products and manage corporate IT governance and functional oversight.
The 25-year industry veteran joined HII through its $1.65 billion acquisition of Alion Science and Technology, where he previously served as senior VP and CIO.
Prior to Alion, Soong held leadership positions at Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) and Sprint.
