Ronald “Chip” Whitford, formerly a vice president of BWX Technologies (NYSE: BWXT), has assumed new roles as senior VP, general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary at the nuclear components supplier.
He succeeds Tom McCabe, who will remain with BWXT in special advisory role until his retirement on Aug. 1, the company said Wednesday. In his new capacity, Whitford will oversee legal, ethics and compliance functions at BWXT, as well as act as an executive liaison and secretary to its board of directors.
“As a part of our succession planning process, we are extremely fortunate to have someone of Chip’s caliber and experience fully ready to take on this crucial position for BWXT,” said President and CEO Rex Geveden.
Whitford joined the Lynchburg, Virginia-headquartered company in 2017 as VP, deputy general counsel and assistant corporate secretary.
The more than 27-year legal professional previously served as in-house counsel for enterprise software third-party support provider Rimini Street, mortgage and fleet management services company PHH Corporation and tobacco company Lorillard.
His career began at a law firm in Cleveland.
