A Battelle-Texas A&M University-University of California partnership will continue to operate and manage the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico for an additional five years under a contract extension awarded by the National Nuclear Security Administration.
NNSA said Tuesday Triad National Security will extend the work it performs at the federally funded research and development center from November 1, 2023, through October 30, 2028.
Triad, a limited liability firm, won the potential 10-year, $25 billion contract in June 2018 for LANL operations and management services.
The agency factored in contractor performance and current price in making the decision to exercise option periods one through five on the original award.
LANL conducts research in the areas of nuclear security, intelligence, defense, emergency response, nonproliferation, counterterrorism, energy security, emerging threats and environmental management.
