A ‘Good Scout’ Makes a Great Leader: Walt Havenstein

Walt Havenstein, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served as CEO of Science Applications International Corp. from September 2009 to June 2012, was honored by the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America in October 2010.

“We could use more scouts and the leadership qualities they exemplify across the river,” Havenstein said in his acceptance speech at the 13th Annual Technology “Good Scout” Award ceremony.

His prior industry experience includes service as president and CEO of BAE Systems’ U.S. subsidiary and management roles at Raytheon and ITT. The retired USMC colonel is the owner and chairman of Six H, a family-run property management company in North Carolina.

For its 2022 luncheon event, the BSA National Capital Area Council will honor LMI President and CEO Doug Wagoner during its Nov. 2 ceremony at the Tysons Corner Marriott hotel in Virginia.
