David Lewis, a retired U.S. Navy vice admiral and a previous Wash100 awardee, has joined Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) as senior vice president responsible for the company’s maritime portfolio.
He will oversee efforts to improve Leidos’ maritime capabilities and pursue strategic programs meant to achieve organic growth across the company’s maritime divisions, the company said Thursday.
Leidos’ maritime portfolio includes the company’s Gibbs & Cox subsidiary and businesses that support ship design and engineering, surface vehicle autonomous and underwater technology development programs and other Navy activities.
Gerry Fasano, president of Leidos Defense Group and a 2022 Wash100 Award recipient, said Lewis brings to the role his military and technology expertise acquired through his naval career and his experience will enable the company to provide the fleet with operational advantages.
Prior to Leidos, Lewis was chair of acquisition at the Naval Postgraduate School. His career in the Navy included time as director of the Defense Contract Management Agency, commander of Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, vice commander of Naval Sea Systems Command and program executive officer, ships.
