Heidi Hendrix, a former human resources executive at Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), has joined Sierra Nevada Corp.‘s space subsidiary as chief people officer.
She will directly report to Sierra Space CEO Tom Vice and oversee efforts to build a team of professionals through the company’s facilities in Louisville, Colorado, the spacecraft and rocket engine maker said Tuesday.
Hendrix previously led HR departments for Northrop’s aerospace systems sector and Bank of America (NYSE: BAC). She also held advisory roles at Spencer Stuart and Andersen Consulting.
Her appointment comes as Sierra Space aims to double its workforce by creating 1,000 jobs in 2022.
The company announced plans to establish a Human Spaceflight Center and Astronaut Training Academy to recruit and train future astronauts to support its Dream Chaser spaceplane, Orbital Reef and other space commercialization efforts.
