A General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) subsidiary has been awarded a one-year, $236.2 million contract modification to continue helping the U.S. Navy design and engineer operational strategic and attack submarines.
The modification will extend Electric Boat’s engineering, technical, design agent and planning yard support to the service branch, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
Seventy percent of contract work will occur in Groton, Connecticut, and the remaining 30 percent will take place in Georgia, Washington, Hawaii and Rhode Island.
Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $5.5 million in fiscal 2022 other procurement funds at the time of award.
Electric Boat was awarded a potential $1.04 billion contract in July 2019 to provide the Navy with submarine-related drawings, technical data, design change documentation and other services.
