A General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) subsidiary has received a four-year, $697.9 million contract modification to conduct an engineered overhaul of USS Hartford, an attack submarine in the U.S. Navy’s Los Angeles class.
Electric Boat will perform modernization, repair and maintenance services at a company facility in Groton, Connecticut, through October 2026, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
The Navy obligated a total of $676.1 million from its operation and maintenance and other procurement funds at the time of award, with $649.8 million of the initial funds expiring at the end of fiscal year 2022.
This award follows contract modifications secured by Electric Boat under the Navy âSmart Startâ program in January and February, which respectively amounted to $22.2 million and $108.2 million.
The submarine builder helped the branch administer a fire drill aboard the USS Hartford in March.
