SEMPRE, a 5G service and edge computing company founded by a U.S. Air Force veteran, has acquired NewSpace Networks in a strategy to offer integrated technology products that can support multidomain wireless communications.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed and SEMPRE said Wednesday it plans to expand its Private 5G platform, which offers military-grade secure communications networks, to include technology from the acquired space software developer.
NewSpace’s technology is designed to help customers process remotely generated data and facilitate space-based communications.
The two companies previously worked with the Department of Defense to conduct domestic tests of their initial commercial products.
As part of the transaction, NewSpace Chief Product Officer Shaun Coleman, Chief Technology Officer of Software John Metzger and Chief Operating Officer Robert Cleave will join SEMPRE’s executive team.
Robert Spalding, a retired Air Force brigadier general and former senior director for strategic planning at the National Security Council, formed SEMPRE with the goal of providing edge computing and connectivity support to organizations anytime, anywhere.
