Carey Smith, chairwoman, president and CEO of Parsons (NYSE: PSN), said the company has acquired eight companies in the past five years and adopted a deliberate strategy with a focus on “buying for technology differentiation,” Defense News reported Thursday.
“Our focus largely to date has been on cyberspace and critical infrastructure protection. Going forward, you can expect to see us continue in those areas,” Smith, a 2022 Wash100 Award winner, told the publication in an interview.
“But I would add to that, potentially, an acquisition on the critical infrastructure side that would have a technology component,” she added.
Smith said she had three priorities when she assumed the role of CEO in July 2021 and one of those is gaining presence in high-growth markets.
“It would be, in federal, focused on cyberspace, missile defense, C5ISR; and now, with the addition of Xator, critical infrastructure protection,” she noted.
She also shared her views on the federal budget for fiscal year 2023 and the war in Ukraine.
