Shay Assad, a more than four-decade defense business veteran, has joined George Mason University’s Center for Government Contracting as a non-resident senior fellow, GMU said in a monthly update.
He previously served as director of pricing at the Department of Defense from June 2011 to December 2018 and advised DOD on weapons and automated information systems acquisition matters.
Assad started his civil service in 2004 as senior contracting official at the U.S. Marine Corps.

He spent 22 years at Raytheon Company in various roles of increasing responsibility prior to his federal service.
The Defense Acquisition University inducted Assad into the DAU Hall of Fame upon his retirement from the government to acknowledge his leadership in the acquisition field.
