Stephen Kirin, who joined Mitre in 2002, has been promoted to serve as vice president of enterprise operations at the nonprofit research and development contractor.
The retired U.S. Army colonel will oversee business priorities and operational activities throughout the Mitre enterprise and lead management of corporate strategy, objectives and measures, the nonprofit said Wednesday.
Kirin has worked with the organization’s government sponsors, which include the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the Department of Veterans Affairs, over the past decade.
He previously spent 27 years at the Army, where he led operational units at multiple levels and served as senior military analyst.
Jason Providakes, president and CEO of Mitre and a three-time Wash100 awardee, said Kirin “brings an ability to set a vision, devise a strategy, and influence and collaborate with executives in a complex environment.”
