Paul Harris, corporate vice president and chief compliance and privacy officer at Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII), is set to take on new responsibilities after his promotion as executive VP and chief sustainability and compliance officer.
He will continue to lead HII’s compliance-related efforts while overseeing its environmental, social and governance programs, the military shipbuilder said Friday.
Harris was a senior VP at Hampton University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, before joining HII in September 2020 and previously held compliance roles at the former Raytheon company, Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and Sodexo.
His public sector career included service at the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division, Virginia House of Delegates and the U.S. Department of Justice.
In his expanded role, Harris will report to Christopher Kastner, president and CEO of HII, on sustainability matters.
“We see sustainability as important to long-term growth, built around our values and commitments to our employees, customers and shareholders,” Kastner said.
“I am confident Paul’s leadership will ensure we are making meaningful, measurable progress on environmental, social and governance initiatives and communicating clearly about them going forward.”
