The Senate has confirmed Andrew Hunter, formerly director of the Center for Strategic International Studies’ defense-industrial initiatives group, to serve as assistant secretary of the U.S. Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics.
At CSIS, he focused his research on the defense acquisition system, technology issues, trade and defense industrial base. He also served as a senior fellow within the center’s International Security Program.
Prior to joining the Washington, D.C.-based think tank in 2014, he was director of the DOD’s Joint Rapid Acquisition Cell, where he led the warfighter senior integration group.
Hunter previously served as chief of staff to Frank Kendall and Ashton Carter during their tenure as defense undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics.
Cynthia Cook, formerly a senior management scientist at global policy think tank RAND, succeeded Hunter as CSIS’ DIIG director.
